GM 12703627 Crankshaft Position Sensor

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the front of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands. For 3.2L V6 engine models, locate the sensor at the left rear of the engine block, remove the CKP sensor retaining bolt, and take out the sensor. Inspect the sensor O-ring and replace it if it is cut, torn, or otherwise deteriorated. Follow the harness to the top of the engine and disconnect the electrical connector from the CKP sensor. Installation involves feeding the sensor down through the engine and securing it in place. For all other models, on VS models, remove the starter motor. From under the right side of the vehicle, disconnect the electrical connector from the CKP sensor, and on V6 models, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield for easier access. Remove the CKP sensor mounting bolt and take out the CKP sensor. Inspect the sensor O-ring and replace it if necessary, then lubricate the new O-ring with clean engine oil before reinstalling the sensor in reverse order of removal.
