- A:To start removing the transaxle, place the vehicle in PARK with the parking brake engaged and disconnect the negative battery cable. Label and unplug all transaxle electrical connectors and remove any related brackets. Disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever at the transaxle and remove the shift cable bracket from the rear powertrain mount.
