GMC 12669909 Oil Pan

First of all, to remove the oil pan one has to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Lift the vehicle using jack stands, then drain the engine oil and finally; remove the oil filter. If fitted, remove the oil pan skid plate and the crossmember situated beneath the oil pan. Some vehicle models have a particular part, the front differential carrier that has to be unbolted where the car is 4WD. Pull the engine wiring harness bracket up and take it off at the front of the oil pan, then unbolt the starter motor and the two plastic shell side covers of the bell housing. Remove the transmission cooler line bracket from the side of the oil pan and any other wiring harness brackets as well as the electrical connecter of the oil level sensor if installed. Unbolt the transmission-to-oil pan bolts, then the oil pan bolts, and drop the pan off the engine; tap the pan gently with a rubber mallet to break the gasket joint. In the process of force, all the bolts needs to be unscrewed from their respective places. For installation, first wash the oil pan with solvent and ensure that the mounting surfaces free of all the old gasket materials. New O-ring seals must be put in the correct positions and the required corners must be sealed with ATV sealant after which the new gasket must be fitted to the pan. Place the pan and loosely secure the bolts/studs using a wrench then drop the oil pan bolts to the proper torque. Remount the components in the opposite of the sequence they were removed, add the appropriate kind and amount of oil ; start the car and examine beneath for signs of oil leaked before sending the vehicle back to the service line.
