    Q:
How to disconnect the Crankshaft Position Sensor on Chevrolet Express? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, you should disconnect the cable from your negative battery terminal. Disconnect CKP sensor electrical connector and remove sensor mounting bolt. A small amount of engine oil should be applied to the O-ring before installing the CKP sensor which should then be tightened properly with the mounting bold. Connect Ckp sensor electrical connector to main engine harness after removing starter motor in 2018 and later 4.3L V6, 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L V8 engines. Installation is reverse of removal so ensure that camshaft position (CMP) senor mounting bolt is tightened securely. The person doing this work must also restart the engine after completing this process in order to determine if Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illuminates during startup; this may be a sign that there's some Diagnostic Trouble Code (OTC) related to CKP system variation not learned error code set within PCM by vehicle manufacturer. Another option is to have a dealer technician perform the necessary procedure to relearn the variation between CKP and CMP sensors as well as clear OTC from PCM's memory while allowing someone else who works at an authorized repair station to fix any driveability problems you encounter by performing CKP system variation learn procedure plus deleting OTCs stored on-PCM at such location.
