Disconnect both leads from the battery terminals and the leads from the rear face of the alternator, marking them first to ensure correct installation. Loosen the alternator mounting and adjuster link bolts, push the unit in towards the engine as far as possible, and slip off the drivebelt. Remove the mounting bolts and lift the alternator from the engine compartment. Installation is a reversal of removal, adjusting the drivebelt tension as needed. New alternators typically do not come with pulleys, so the old one should be removed if a new unit is to be purchased; to do this, hold the alternator shaft still with an Allen wrench while unscrewing the pulley nut.
