This procedure applies to 2004 and earlier models only and is intended to adjust the pressure plate to compensate for
Clutch Disc wear, not to repair a slipping clutch that is already worn or damaged. Begin by raising and supporting the vehicle on jackstands, then remove the flywheel inspection cover and identify the three stepped adjusting ring tension stops located on the rear of the pressure plate. With an assistant depressing the clutch pedal, use two screwdrivers to rotate the adjusting ring tension stops counterclockwise until they can no longer rotate, holding them in this position. Once the assistant releases the clutch pedal, you can release the adjusting ring tension stops, completing the adjustment. Finally, reinstall the flywheel inspection cover and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque.
