To take out the steering column, there is a bolt at intermediate shaft, the position of which depend on the year of manufacture, in the engine compartment for 2008 and earlier and under the driver's side of the instrument panel for 2009 and later. Make sure they are straight ahead and then unplug the connection from the negative terminal of the battery. Machanise the
Steering Wheel in the straight position with a view of securing the clockspring by using a steering column lock pin, steering column lock, or using a strap to hinder rotation in order to prevent SIR system inherent problems. For the models after 2009, included the intermediate steer shaft from the steering column. Disconnect the electrical connectors of multi-function switch, take off the knee bolster trim panel and bracket and airbag of the steering wheel. For the models prior to 2008, the mounting fasteners need to be removed from the upper and lower column brackets, for the models after 2009, only the fasteners of the upper steering column bracket should be removed. Lower the column and drag it towards the rear of the vehicle and when you can see that nothing is connecting it to any other part of the car, then you remove the column, being careful not to scratch it. For installation, position the steering column into place with the intermediate shaft engaged and install the mounting bolts and nuts and tighten to the dot. Place a new intermediate shaft bolt and torque, as the rest of the procedure is just the reversal of the above.
