First, you need to rotate the
Steering Wheel in order to easily unscrew the bolt of the intermediate shaft; for 2008 and earlier-it is done from under the engine hood, for 2009 and newer-from under the driver's side of the instrument panel. Third, the subject turns the steering wheel to align parallel with the car's front end. Secure the steering wheel in this position using one of the following methods: there is an insert / lock pin under the
Steering Column by popping off the lower steering column cover; lock the steering until the key is turned off; or tie the steering wheel in. This requires that the steering wheel be fixed in order to avoid turning in a direction that may harm the clockspring and consequently prompt a hitch of the SIR system; this should be done prior to the removal of the intermediate shaft, the column or the steering gear, or while the steering column is off, do not rotate the steering wheel or front wheels. Go further to remove few items; disconnect intermediate shaft from the steering column, take out the lower intermediate shaft cover and the bolt holding it, take off the lower coupling from the steering gear and the upper coupling from the steering column. Lastly, installation is done in a reverse order to the removal process that has been expounded in this document.
