Overhaul, Inspect, Install If one is using the 200 or 229 cu in V6, then the guide on the procedures that go with it is as follows, First, take out the rocker arm and shaft assembly from the
Cylinder Head and strat laying it on wood block on a clean surface. Secondly, the nylon rocker arm retainers must be removed with a pair of channel locks. Take out the rocker arms, wash and examine them to states of wear, and take away the small retainers situated inside the rocker arm shaft. After disassembly, it is essential to lubricate all parts with engine oil and temporally assemble them on the rocker arm shaft; and to reinstall the rocker arms, it is not mandatory to reinstall them in the same place but it must be arranged in the correct manner because they are marked as right (R) or left (L). Place each rocker arm on the 3/4 in hole in the shaft and fit new nylon rocker arm retainers in the 3/4 in holes using a 'T' in drift. Last, fix the rocker arm assembly on the cylinder head and then put back the bolts with bolt tightening in a sequential manner to the torque recommended by the manufacturer.
