GMC Terrain A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an air conditioning condenser?
A: To remove and install an air conditioning condenser, it is recommended to have an air conditioning technician discharge and recover the refrigerant. Before starting the process, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the front bumper cover and disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser, making sure to cap all fittings to prevent dirt or moisture from entering. Next, detach the top fasteners of the condenser from the Radiator and carefully lift it to release the lower retaining tabs, being cautious not to damage the fins. For installation, reverse the removal steps, tightening the line-fitting mounting bolts to the proper torque specifications. If a new condenser is being installed, add 1 ounce of fresh refrigerant oil and assemble all connections with new O-rings lubricated with refrigerant oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, charged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
