The brake light switch is located at the top of the brake pedal, it is mounted on a bracket, to turn on the rear brake lights when the pedal is pushed. To remove it, I had to start by removing the under dash cover. If required, push the steering shaft protective sleeve as far as the cowl side and then remove vacuum line in the cruise control cut-off switch. If so, pull the retainer clip that holds the brake light switch onto the bracket of the steering column, then unhook the retainer from the four wire connector and the two wire connector if cruise control is incorporated. If required, the switch arm shall be removed from the pedal by pushing the switch leftwards towards the cowl Besides removing the switch, the top snap clip shall be also pulled down and released. For the later models, there is a mounting screw that has to be taken off; after that, there are four wires connectors and the switch which have to be taken out. For removal, these steps have been followed: To install it, do the following in reverse order to the removal steps. If the above measures do not work while the brake pedal is fully depressed the switch set lever can be pulled using a wire which has a hook at the end; in the process a click may not be heard which may depict a bad switch. Open the break and do the same thing again ; this time test if the break lights are working properly after adjustment.
