To remove the component, first disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery, ensuring that the Theftlock audio system's lockout feature is disabled if applicable. Next, loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the right front wheel and the right front inner fender splash shield. Then, remove the serpentine drivebelt. For models with an automatic transaxle, take off the driveplate cover and use a large screwdriver to hold the ring gear while an assistant removes the crankshaft bolt; for manual transaxle models, engage high gear and apply the brakes as an assistant removes the harmonic balancer bolt, using a large breaker bar and a six-point socket if necessary. Afterward, remove the pulley-to-harmonic balancer bolts and take the pulley off the harmonic balancer. Use a bolt-type puller to pull the harmonic balancer off the crankshaft, ensuring the Woodruff key remains in place. For installation, reverse the removal steps, applying moly-base grease to the seal contact surface of the harmonic balancer hub to prevent damage to the seal lip and oil leakage. Align the hub key-way with the Woodruff key, tighten the harmonic balancer-to-crankshaft bolt to the specified torque, install the pulley on the harmonic balancer, torque its bolts to 37 ft-lb, and reinstall the remaining parts in the reverse order of removal.
