Saturn LS Shift Interlock Solenoid

The Saturn LS Shift Interlock Solenoid prevents the automatic transmission from entering the wrong gear until the onboard computer witnesses the right signals. This prevents damage to the gearbox and prevents the car from starting in unsafe conditions. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will provide commands to the Shift Interlock Solenoid or a dedicated Transmission Control Module (TCM). Inputs weight from the TP, ECT, MAP, MAF, VSS, TSS, TFT, BOO, and TR switches to decide when a shift is allowed. The energized coil in the Shift Interlock Solenoid converts a simple iron plunger to a valve that blocks fluid or releases it, so only with the correct pressure will the shifter move to the right clutches or bands. Historically, Saturn LS cars designed and employed a mechanical Shift Interlock Solenoid with a low number of electronic sensors. Later Saturn LS cars also had a similar design but with more sensor data for improving engagement and tighter safety logic. Regardless of year, every Saturn LS unit pairs the Shift Interlock Solenoid with the TR switch so the engine cannot start outside Park or Neutral and with the BOO switch so brake application immediately cancels torque converter clutch lockup for further protection.

Each OEM Saturn LS Shift Interlock Solenoid we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.
