This procedure necessitates engine removal, and assuming the engine has already been removed, the removal steps include taking out the engine, removing the timing chain cover, and extracting the oil pan by prying at designated points, with the oil pickup removal requiring the bolts in the oil pan's bottom to be removed, and replacement of the pickup seal if taken off. For installation, the oil pan and engine block surfaces must be meticulously cleaned of old gasket material and sealer using a rag soaked in brake system cleaner. The oil pump pickup should be inspected for cracks or leaks, ensuring the screen at its base is unobstructed. A new oil seal should be installed on the oil pump pickup, which is then secured with bolts in the oil pan's bottom, and the baffle is installed inside the oil pan, with its retaining bolts tightened. Aligning studs are crafted from MB x 1.25 mm bolts and placed into the labeled oil pan bolt holes 1 and 2 for proper alignment. A 3 mm wide bead of oxygen sensor-safe RTV sealant is applied to the oil pan mating face and the corners of the block where the front and rear covers meet the engine block. The oil pan is then installed and its bolts are finger-tightened. After removing the aligning studs, the oil pan bolts are tightened in sequence to the specified torque. The remaining installation steps follow in reverse order, and finally, a new oil filter is installed, the correct oil type and quantity are added, and the engine is started and checked for leaks before returning the vehicle to service.
