- A:To remove the fuel injectors on a vehicle, the intake manifold cover must first be removed, followed by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. The air intake and manifold cover bracket bolts are then removed, along with the nut securing the engine wiring harness bracket to the intake manifold. Electrical leads in the engine wiring harness are traced and disconnected from various components, including the alternator, EVAP purge solenoid, ignition coils, MAP sensor, and throttle body. The electrical connectors from the fuel injectors are also disconnected, and the engine wiring harness clips are detached. The PCV hose is disconnected from the intake manifold, and the fuel line is disconnected from the fuel rail. The EVAP canister purge solenoid is removed from the intake manifold, and the fuel rail mounting bolts are removed. The injectors are then disengaged from the intake manifold and lifted from the engine as a single assembly, with each injector retainer and old o-ring removed. New o-rings are installed and lubricated with clean engine oil before reassembling the injectors and fuel rail. The installation process is the reverse of removal, with the fuel rail mounting bolts tightened securely and the fuel system pressurized to check for leaks.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
