    Q:
How to begin the process for removing the wiper motor on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin the process for models through 1996, detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, ensuring that the Theft lock audio system's lockout feature is off. Raise the hood and disconnect the windshield washer fluid line connector at the wiper arms. Remove the windshield wiper blade cap and nut, then insert a pop rivet or pin through the holes next to the wiper arm pivots, grasp the wiper arms, and remove them by rocking back-and-forth while lifting. Next, remove the screws from the lower edge of the reveal molding, lower the hood, and lift the molding toward the windshield. After raising the hood again, remove the air inlet panel screws and any under-hood lamp switch if equipped, then take off the panel. If the wiper motor runs, rotate the crank arm to the inner Wipe position; if not, use adjustable pliers to move it to that position. Unplug the electrical connectors from the wiper motor, then remove the three screws from the bell-crank housing, lower the wiper transmission, and lift the module from the vehicle. Remove the motor mounting bolts and the nut fastening the transmission linkage arm to the motor shaft, detach the linkage, and take the motor from the module. For 1997 and later models, follow the same initial steps to remove the cowl cover, disconnect the electrical connectors from the wiper motor, and remove the wiper linkage bracket mounting bolts. Pull the linkage assembly out from the cowl, turn it over to access the wiper motor retaining screws, and remove these screws along with the wiper motor spindle nut. Separate the components, noting that on some models, the wiper crank arm has a socket that snaps off a ball-stud on the motor spindle. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal.
