    How to remove and install the rear Crankshaft Seal in V6 engine on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Bradford K.
    A:
    Remove the transmission and then the driveplate. Pry the Crankshaft Seal from the rear cover with a screwdriver, taking care not to nick or scratch the crankshaft or the seal bore. Note how far the seal is recessed into the housing bore before removal to ensure the new seal is installed to the same depth. Clean the seal bore in the block thoroughly with a shop towel, removing all traces of oil and dirt. Do not lubricate the seal or touch the sealing lip, and ensure the seal is installed in the correct orientation, with the marking (... THIS SIDE OUT ...) visible. Ideally, use a seal installation tool to press the new seal back into place; if unavailable, use a large drift to carefully drive the new seal squarely into the seal bore and flush with the rear cover. Finally, install the driveplate and then the transmission.
