- A:Drain the cooling system. If the coolant is relatively new and still in good condition, it can be saved and reused. On 2015 and earlier models, remove the retaining clip and unclip the coolant reservoir/expansion tank from the mounting bracket. On 2016 and later models, remove the coolant reservoir/expansion tank mounting fastener. Loosen the clamps and move them back on the hoses, then detach the hoses. Remove the expansion tank from its mount. Clean the tank with soapy water and a brush to remove any deposits inside. Inspect the tank carefully for cracks; if any are found, replace it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist

- A:To remove the coolant reservoir, start by using a suction device to remove as much coolant as possible from the reservoir, saving it if it is in good condition. Then, remove the two bolts securing the reservoir to the vehicle and lift it up to disconnect the overflow hose. If the reservoir is going to be reused, clean it with soapy water and a brush to remove any deposits and inspect it for cracks. If any cracks are found, replace the reservoir.
