On the other hand, if the radiator hose is hot, it means that the coolant is flowing and the thermostat is open. When it comes to replacing the thermostat, the first step is to remove the air filter housing and air intake duct. The cooling system should be drained, and if the coolant is in good condition, it can be saved and reused. The coolant reservoir should also be removed. The location of the thermostat housing cover depends on the engine, and it should be removed along with the thermostat. If the large fitting that mates with the hose is deteriorated, the thermostat housing cover may need to be replaced.
