    Q:
What is the purpose of fuses and where are they located on Cadillac Fleetwood? Posted by Customer
    A:
The vehicle's electrical circuits are saved by fuses. When there is an excessive current in the circuit, it will cause the fuse element to melt and thus stop the flow of current. Each Devilles and Fleetwoods have a fuse block that is located under the left hand side of the instrument panel. Also, a 1991-93 model Deville and Fleetwood are equipped with a fuse block that can be found at the rear of the engine compartment. In Eldorado and Sevitte, this is in a glove box behind an access panel. For 1992-98 Eldorado and Seville, there are two fuse blocks, one located on the left side of the engine compartment, on the wheelwell and one located on the side of the trunk. To check whether or not a fuse is blown, remove it from its slot in the fuse block and look for a break in the center of its element wire. Should any break exist in it, replace it with another whose rating is similar to itself. It should also be kept in mind that it is essential to change a blown fuse with that which has got similar type as well as an equal amount of current rating. Installing a higher-rated fuse can lead to vehicle fire or personal injury as well as damages on your car.

    Q:
What Is the Role of Fuses, Circuit Breakers, and Fusible Links in Electrical Circuit Protection on Chevrolet C1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The vehicle's electrical circuits are covered by a mixture of fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links. The fuse block can be seen beneath the instrument panel on the left side of dashboard. Every one fuse covers a particular circuit and these circuits are indicated on the fuse itself. The miniature fuses are used in the fuse block with blade terminal design for fast removal and installation with fingers. Always check if the fuse has blown whenever an electrical component fails to work properly. A test light is the best method of checking fuses. You should see whether each fuse has power at its exposed terminal tips or not. When there is power on one side of the fuse but none on the other, it means that this device is blown out. This can also be visually observed when it happens to occur. Remember that broken fuses have to be replaced using correct types only. Fuses will physically fit into any rated slot; however, you must use only those which suit specific ratings accordingly! It's not recommended replacing a higher or lower value than specified fuse thereon! Each electrical circuit requires some amount of protection against overloads or short circuits caused by damaged wiring or components which fail due to age or accident.
