Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the front of the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands. For V6 engines, locate the sensor at the right rear of the engine block, disconnect the electrical connector to the CKP sensor, remove the retaining bolt, and take out the sensor. Inspect the sensor O-ring; if it is cut, torn, or otherwise deteriorated, replace it. Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil, and installation is the reverse of removal. For V8 engines, remove the starter motor, disconnect the electrical connector from the CKP sensor, and then remove the mounting bolt and the CKP sensor. Again, inspect the O-ring and replace it if necessary, lubricating it with clean engine oil before reinstalling, which follows the reverse of removal.
