Saturn LS Engine Oil Cooler Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the engine oil cooler?
A: To remove the engine oil cooler, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and drain the cooling system. Then, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds, intake manifold spacer, and coolant crossover housing. Next, remove the inlet and return lines from the oil cooler and raise the vehicle to secure it on jack stands. Remove the oil filter and oil filter housing, as well as the crankshaft sensor. Disconnect the oil cooler inlet and return lines from the engine block and lower the vehicle. For installation, start by installing the engine oil cooler and new O-rings onto the engine block. Tighten the cover bolts in sequence and install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts. Install the oil cooler lines into the block above the oil filter housing and tighten the fittings securely. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
