Remove the cable from the battery's negative terminal. Lift and support the vehicle on jackstands for four-cylinder and 3.0L V6 models. Disconnect all the wiring from the starter. It disconnects with both batteries and starter solenoid wiring. On 3.5L V6 models, pull back the rubber boot until an electrical connector can be pulled off, then remove nut, pull back rubber boot, and remove starter cable. Remove any brackets that are in your way, undo the starter mounting bolts, and take out the starter. This is inclusive of both upper as well as lower mounting bolts of a 3.5L V6 model starter unit. Move it around to clear the block and bellhousing then pull it out. Failure to follow these cautions may result in damage to your equipment or injury to yourself or others. Install by reversing the procedure described above. Refit all components removed during dismantling.
