- A:At the specified intervals, the air filter should be replaced with a new one and inspected between changes. For TBI models, the air filter is located inside the air cleaner housing mounted on top of the engine. Remove the wing nuts and lift off the top plate of the air cleaner housing, being careful not to drop anything down into the TBI unit. Lift the air cleaner element out of the housing, wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing with a clean rag, place the new filter into the housing, making sure it seats properly, then install the top plate and wing nuts. For Central Port Injection and Multiport Fuel Injection, the air filter is located inside the air cleaner housing mounted in the left front corner of the engine compartment. Detach the two clips, separate housing halves, and lift the filter out. Wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing with a clean rag, place the new filter in the air cleaner housing, make sure it seats properly, seat the two halves together, and secure them with the clips.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
