To remove the intake manifold, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 2008 and earlier models, remove the engine top cover and the air outlet tube from the air filter housing. Move the PCV tube from the air filter inlet and disconnect the electrical connectors to the intake manifold tuning valve, throttle body, and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and the wiring from the throttle body. Disconnect the PCV tube from the intake manifold and the quick-connect fitting at the tube from the EVAP canister purge solenoid. Move the EVAP tube aside and remove the fasteners from the engine wiring harness. Make sure all interfering wiring and hoses are disconnected and moved clear of the intake manifold. Loosen the six mounting bolts from the top of the upper intake manifold and remove the manifold and upper intake gasket as a unit. For the lower intake manifold, relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the fuel feed line from the fuel rail. Remove the fuel rail and injectors, then remove the lower intake manifold mounting bolts and lift off the manifold. Remove the oil filler cap and lift the engine cover off. Disconnect the air filter housing outlet duct and remove the air filter housing. Disconnect the brake booster hose vacuum and the PCV hose from the manifold. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the EVAP purge solenoid valve and the throttle body. Remove the fuel line cover and the engine electrical harness clips and retainers from the intake manifold. Remove the intake manifold sound insulator (if equipped) and the intake manifold bolts. Discard the intake manifold gasket and clean all traces of old gasket material. Use a tap to chase the threads in the bolt holes and install new gaskets on the cylinder heads. Install the lower intake manifold and replace the fuel injectors and fuel rail. Install new gaskets on the top of the lower intake manifold and replace the upper intake manifold. Install the bolts and tighten them evenly. For 2009 and later models, install the intake manifold and tighten the bolts in a criss-cross pattern. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal.
