- A:Remove the distributor cap and rotor. Disconnect the harness connector and pick-up coil spade connectors from the Ignition Control Module, being careful not to damage the wires when removing the connector. Remove the two screws and Ignition Control Module from the distributor housing. To install, coat the bottom of the new Ignition Control Module with dielectric lubricant supplied with the new module. Install the Ignition Control Module, and secure in place with the retainer screws. Attach the harness to the Ignition Control Module. - A:To check the procedures for removing and installing the ignition coils and ignition control module assembly, follow these steps. First, detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, ensuring that the lockout feature is turned off if applicable. If necessary, remove the cooling fan to access the coil/module assembly. Unplug the electrical connectors from the module and label and detach the plug wires at the coil assembly. Remove the module/coil assembly mounting bolts and lift the assembly from the vehicle. Separate the coils from the module by removing the mounting bolts. When installing the coils, ensure they are connected properly. Additionally, if removing the ignition system assembly, disconnect the IOI harness connector and remove the assembly-to-camshaft housing bolts. Lift the ignition system assembly from the engine and detach the housing from the cover. Disconnect the coil harness connectors and remove the coils.
