    How to replace the vehicle speed sensor on Chevrolet Cruze? Posted by Customer

    VSS are located internally to the valve body and therefore any problems associated with VSS replacements should be defined and repaired by a dealer service department or an equivalent repair shop. On manual transaxles the VSS is mounted on top of the transaxle and can be fairly tricky to get to and often you may have to remove the battery and the battery tray. First of all switch the ignition to the OFF position then unplug the electrical connector of the VSS sensor and remove the harness connector from the bracket that is bonded at the sensor. Next, unbolt VSS sensor and then disconnect it by lifting it off the top of the stm transaxle. Replace the VSS sensor's old O-ring with a new O-ring irrespective of whether the sensor is reused or not. Last of all, you have to install as it is done on the reverse order to quick removal.

    To remove the vehicle speed sensor, remove the battery. If you're removing the output shaft speed sensor, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. Next, remove the sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor along with its O-ring. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to use a new O-ring and tighten the sensor mounting bolt securely.

    How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer

    There are two transmission speed sensors, there are two sensors referring to as the Input Shaft Speed (ISS) sensor and the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor. The ISS sensor is embedded in the transaxle and cannot be replaced without the help of a dealer service department or any quality transmission service centre. The OSS sensor is mounted at the right end of he back side of the transaxle near the right Inner CV joint. The OSS sensor is removed and to do so, lift the front of the car and place the car on jackstands. Pull out the wiring harness out of the clip and separate the electrical connector from the OSS sensor and put the harness aside. Pop off the sensor hold-down bolt and the hold-down clamp and then simply take out the sensor from the transaxle housing. Remove the old O-ring from the OSS sensor and make sure that a new one is used in mounting the sensor even if the old one is to be reused. Reinstallation takes place in the reverse order of removal and they tighten back the sensor retaining bolt.
