How to replace the shift cable and adjust it after installation on Chevrolet Corvette?

To replace the shift cable, first raise and support the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the intermediate exhaust pipe/catalytic converter assembly and the driveshaft tunnel panel. Using a long screwdriver, release the shift cable from the shift lever assembly located above the driveline housing. Disconnect the cable from the driveshaft housing clips and from the bracket and shift lever at the transmission. Use a small, flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the shift cable retaining clip from the cable at the bracket, squeezing the clips in and pulling the cable toward the front of the vehicle to detach it from the bracket, and pry out the retaining clip to detach the cable casing from the bracket at the transmission. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the cable should be adjusted after installation. For adjustment, securely raise and support the rear of the vehicle on jackstands and block the front wheels. Place the shifter in the Neutral position and set the parking brake. Working under the driver's side rear of the vehicle at the transmission shift lever, use a small, flat-bladed screwdriver to carefully pry and release the shift cable adjustment lock located at the end of the shift cable at the transmission.
