Remove the hose from the retaining strap atop the radiator shroud by releasing the end of the strap from the underside of the shroud with pliers. Remove the bolts and separate the upper radiator shroud from the radiator. Remove the cooling fan from the fan pulley. Loosen the accessory drivebelt adjusting bolts as necessary and remove the drivebelts, tagging each one as it is removed to simplify reinstallation. Remove the bolt from the center of the crankshaft pulley, using a screwdriver to lock the starter ring gear on the flywheel, then remove the pulley. Attach a puller to the harmonic balancer and draw it off the crankshaft, being careful not to drop it as it breaks free; avoid using a common gear puller as it may separate the outer portion from the hub. Use only a puller that bolts to the hub to remove the harmonic balancer, as applying force to the outer edge may cause damage. Before installing the harmonic balancer, coat the front cover seal area on the balancer with engine oil or multi-purpose grease. Place the balancer in position over the key on the crankshaft, ensuring the balancer keyway lines up with the key. Using a balancer installation tool, push the balancer onto the crankshaft, as this tool distributes the pressure evenly around the hub. Remove the installation tool and install the balancer retaining bolt, tightening it to the specified torque. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order for the remaining components and adjust the drivebelts accordingly.
