Q:
Where is the fuel filter located on Buick Century and Regal? Posted by Customer
A:
The fuel filter on carbureted gasoline engines is located behind the fuel inlet connection on the carburetor body. To replace it, first disconnect the fuel line connection from the larger fuel filter nut using a wrench. Then, remove the larger nut from the carburetor with a box-end wrench or socket. Take out the filter element and spring from the carburetor, and discard the sealing gasket. Check the element for dirt blockage by blowing through the fuel inlet end with low pressure compressed air. Install the new filter and spring in the carburetor opening, using a new sealing gasket for the retainer nut. Attach the fuel line and tighten the connection. For fuel injected engines, the inline filters are located on the frame rails or rear cross member. To remove and install the fuel filter, first depressurize the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse or disconnecting the fuel tank electrical harness connector. Then, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the filter attaching nut at both ends of the filter assembly. Pull the filter out of the bracket and remove the sealing O-rings. Install the new filter into the bracket, using new O-rings for the fuel line connections. Tighten the connections and reconnect the negative battery cable. For diesel engines, the fuel filter is located at the rear of the engine. Loosen the fuel line-to-filter connections and disconnect the fuel lines. Remove the sealing washers and discard. Install new sealing washers and attach the fuel lines to the filter. Tighten the connections and start the engine to check for leaks.

Q:
How to replace the Fuel Filter for Buick Skylark,Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Phoenix? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the fuel line connection at the fuel inlet nut on the carburetor. Remove the fuel inlet nut from the carb. Remove the filter and spring. When reinstalling the spring and filter, the end of the filter with the hole should face toward the inlet nut. Place a new gasket on the fuel inlet nut necessary and install the nut into the carb. Install the fuel line and lighten the connector to its proper torque while holding the fuel inlet fitting with a wrench.

Q:
How to relieve fuel system pressure and replace the fuel filter in a fuel-injected Buick Skylark,Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Phoenix? Posted by Customer
A:
To begin, relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel injected models have a stainless steel in-line fuel filter, which is located at the left rear of the engine on TBI engines and attached to the cylinder head. On MPFI engines, the fuel filter is connected to the frame rail or rear crossmember near the fuel tank. With the engine cold, place a container or rags under the filter. Remove the lines from the ends of the filter, then take out the attaching bolts and separate the filter. Install the new filter, ensuring it is facing the correct direction. Finally, reverse the steps for installation.

How should the fuel inlet filter nut be unscrewed on the 1985 Pontiac Firebird? Posted by Customer
A:
The fuel inlet filter nut should be unscrewed, being careful not to lose the thin washer-type gasket or the spring located behind the fuel filter.
