Q:
How to drain and replace transaxle fluid and Transmission Filter for Chevrolet Beretta? Posted by Customer
A:
At the specified time intervals, the transaxle fluid should be drained and replaced. Since the fluid will remain hot long after driving, perform this procedure only after everything has cooled down completely. Before starting the work, make sure to purchase the specified transaxle fluid and a new filter. Other tools necessary for this job include jackstands to support the vehicle in a raised position, a drain pan capable of holding several quarts, newspapers, and clean rags. Raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands. Place a drain pan and remove the front and side oil pan mounting bolts. Loosen the rear pan bolts by approximately four turns. Carefully use a screwdriver to pry the transaxle oil pan loose, allowing the fluid to drain. Remove the remaining bolts, pan, and gasket. Thoroughly clean the gasket surface of the transaxle to remove any traces of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transaxle oil pan, clean the pan with solvent, and dry it with compressed air. Be careful not to lose the magnet. Remove the filter from the mount inside the transaxle. Install a new filter and seal. Ensure that the gasket surface on the transaxle oil pan is clean, then install a new gasket. Put the pan in place against the transaxle and install the bolts. Gradually tighten each bolt around the pan until the final torque figure is reached. Lower the vehicle and add the specified amount of automatic transaxle fluid through the filler tube. With the shift lever in Park and the parking brake set, run the engine at a fast idle, but avoid racing it. Move the shift lever through each gear and back to Park. Check the fluid level. During the first few trips, check under the vehicle for any signs of leaks.

Q:
How to remove and replace transmission fluid, gasket, and filter for Pontiac Fiero? Posted by Customer
A:
Before beginning work, make sure to purchase the specified type and amount of transmission fluid, a gasket, and a filter. To remove any sediment buildup, drain the automatic transaxle fluid immediately after driving the vehicle. Remember to wear protective gloves due to high fluid temperatures. Raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands. Place a drain pan under the transaxle oil pan and remove all bolts except bolts A and B. For Turbo 125C oil pans assembled with RTV sealant, a special bolt is required. You can make this special bolt by grinding down a section of the shank diameter. Remove bolt A and install the special bolt, then loosen bolt B and strike the oil pan corner with a rubber mallet. Remove the special bolt and allow the fluid to drain. Remove the remaining bolt and detach the oil pan, along with the old filter and O-ring seal. Inspect the oil pan and filter for any foreign material. Clean the gasket mating surface of the transaxle case and remove any old gasket or sealant. Clean the oil pan and flanges with solvent and ensure no sealant is left. Install the new filter and O-ring seal, coating the seal with petroleum jelly. Install the oil pan with a new gasket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Lower the vehicle and fill the transaxle with the proper quantity and type of fluid through the filler tube. Use a funnel to avoid spills and check the fluid level on the dipstick. Start the engine and move the gear selector through all positions. Check the fluid level again and look for leaks around the oil pan mating surface. Push the dipstick firmly back into its tube and drive the vehicle to reach normal operating temperature. Park on a level surface and check for leaks. Finally, check the fluid level again and add fluid if necessary, avoiding overfilling.

Q:
How to drain and replace transaxle fluid and Transmission Filter for Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
A:
At the specified time intervals, the transaxle fluid should be drained and replaced. Since the fluid will remain hot long after driving, perform this procedure only after everything has cooled down completely. Before beginning work, purchase the specified transaxle fluid and a new filter. Other tools necessary for this job include three jackstands to support the vehicle in a raised position, a drain pan capable of holding several quarts, newspapers, and clean rags. Raise and support the vehicle on jackstands. With a drain pan in place, remove the front and side transaxle pan mounting bolts. Loosen the rear pan bolts one turn. Carefully pry the transaxle pan loose with a screwdriver, allowing the fluid to drain. Remove the remaining bolts, pan, and gasket. Carefully clean the gasket surface of the transaxle to remove all traces of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transaxle pan, clean the pan with solvent, and dry it with compressed air. Be careful not to lose the magnet. Remove the filter from the mount inside the transaxle. Install a new filter and seal. Make sure the gasket surface on the transaxle pan is clean, then install a new gasket. Put the pan in place against the transaxle and install the bolts. If the bolts are equipped with captive crush washers, they should be replaced. Working around the pan, tighten each bolt a little at a time until the final torque figure is reached. Lower the vehicle and add the specified amount of automatic transmission fluid through the filler tube. With the shift lever in Park and the parking brake set, run the engine at a fast idle, but don't race it. Move the shift lever through each gear and back to Park. Check the fluid level when the engine is fully warmed up. Check under the vehicle for leaks during the first few trips.
