    Q:
How to remove and install the clutch release bearing and Clutch Fork on Chevrolet Beretta? Posted by Customer
    A:
To pull out the clutch release bearing, you should first take off the negative terminal of the battery and on the car models with the Delco Loe II audio system, the lockout should be turned off. Thereafter, pull out the under-dash panel and get rid of the clutch master cylinder pushrod connected to the clutch pedal pin. After that, unbolt the transaxle and take the clutch release bearing off the clutch fork, if it is to be reused, then orient one side of the clutch release bearing as per the other side of the release fork by applying a marker. Remove the retaining spring and do not immerse the bearing in the solvent while checking its free rotation, damage or wear. For installation, the ends of the clutch fork shall be lightly lubricated using white lithium-base grease while the inner groove of the bearing must also be packed with the same grease. Fit the release bearing onto the transaxle retainer such that the fork tangs go into the bearing groove and the marked pads come in contact with the fork ends then fit the retaining spring. Reattach the transaxle, keeping the clutch fork in place until the bolts to the engine are put in; reconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod, put the under-dash cover back in place and reconnect the negative battery terminal. Last but not least, the manner of the clutch has to be examined.

    Q:
How to remove and install the Clutch Fork and Release Bearing on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the clutch components from 1988 through 1990 models, first disconnect the negative cable from the battery, ensuring the Theftlock audio system's lockout feature is off. Next, remove the under-dash panel and disconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod from the clutch pedal pin. Then, remove the transaxle and the clutch release bearing from the clutch fork shaft. Hold the center of the bearing and turn the outer race; if it doesn't turn smoothly or is noisy, replace it, and inspect it for damage without immersing it in solvent. For 1991 and later models, remove the release cylinder and canister from the transaxle, then take out the access plug from the transaxle clutch housing. Disconnect the clutch fork from the release bearing by pulling it perpendicular to the transaxle center line until it stops, followed by removing the transaxle. To remove the release bearing from the pressure plate, push it toward the engine, insert a large flat-blade screwdriver between the clutch wedge collar and the release bearing, and twist to pop it out. For installation across all models, lightly lubricate the clutch fork ends with white lithium-base grease, and for 1988 to 1990 models, pack the inner groove of the bearing with grease. Install the release bearing on the clutch fork, ensuring the forks fit correctly, and confirm the fork moves freely. Reinstall the transaxle, and for pull-type clutch models, seat the release bearing in the wedge collar by pushing the release cylinder end of the clutch fork toward the engine. Install the access cover in the clutch housing, followed by the release cylinder and canister on the transaxle. Reconnect the clutch master cylinder pushrod, install the under-dash cover, attach the cable to the negative battery terminal, and finally check the clutch operation.
