The PCV valve is located in one of the valve covers depending on the engine.

Operating an engine without a PCV valve or ventilation system can cause damage.

Remove the fuel injector cover, disconnect the MAP sensor's electrical connector, unclip the sensor from the PCV valve access cover, and rotate the cover counterclockwise to remove it. Replace the PCV valve, making sure it matches the old one, and install it in reverse order. Replace the O-ring if needed.

If the engine is idling roughly, a clogged PCV valve, filter or hose might be the reason. On a four-cylinder engine, the PCV valve is located in the rubber elbow at the throttle body end of the rubber hose connecting the rocker arm cover to the throttle body. The PCV valve filter is located between the rocker arm cover and the air cleaner snorkel. With the engine idling at normal operating temperature, pull the PCV valve hose plastic fitting from its rubber grommet in the rocker arm cover. Place your finger over the end of the PCV hose fitting to check for intake manifold vacuum. If there is no vacuum and engine speed doesn't drop, check the hose. If the hose is clear, inspect the PCV filter. If the filter isn't clogged, the valve itself must be checked. Turn off the engine and remove the rubber elbow from the throttle body. Pull the PCV valve from the rubber elbow. Unscrew the hose clamp and remove the hose from the other end of the valve. Shake the valve and listen for the rattle of the ball inside the valve. If the valve does not rattle, replace it. When purchasing a replacement PCV valve, make sure it is for your particular vehicle, model year and engine size. Push the new valve into the end of the elbow until it is seated. Make sure you install it facing the same direction that it did when you removed it. A PCV valve won't work if installed facing the wrong way. Slip the hose over the other end of the PCV valve and tighten the hose clamp securely. Inspect the rubber grommet at the rocker arm cover for damage and replace it with a new one if warranted. Push the rubber elbow over its fitting on the side of the throttle body and slip the plastic fitting at the other end of the PCV hose into the rubber grommet. The procedure for checking the PCV valve on a V6 is identical, but the valve itself is located between a rubber elbow and a rubber grommet located on the top of the rear valve cover. The filter is located at the other end of the system, where it attaches to the top of the front valve cover.
