Consult the package that the installation tool came in, fit it to the crankshaft in accordance with instructions and then screw it through. Put the new seal in place on the tool, align the drive drum over it and fit the rest of the tool parts onto the shaft, with reference to the fact that the seal is only an assembly in one direction on the tool. Rotate the nut further in order to compress the new seal tighter to the drum and also to make it come in contact with the engine block, after that, you remove the nut and look at the position of the new seal from the drum. Last put in the driveplate and the transaxle.

Remove the driveplate. The Crankshaft Seal can be replaced without having to remove the oil pan or the seal retainer that is fitted in the engine. Still, the lip of the seal is quite rigid and the seal can be cocked in the retainer bore or damaged while being installed. Using a screwdriver gently remove the old rubber seal without scratching the surface of the crankshaft so that the new seal will not leak. Use multi-purpose grease on the crankshaft seal journal and lip of the new seal; insert the driver on the new seal with much care before hitting it until it is properly fixed. Lip is rather rigid and it should best be installed on the seal journal of the crankshaft gently. Insert the seal straight home and only home enough to make the seal level with back of seal plate while the spring side is facing inwards. The remaining steps are the, in essence, the reversal of the removal process described above.

Install the crankshaft balancer, with the remainder of the installation being the reverse of the removal process.

Remove the dowel pins and install the remaining rear main oil seal housing bolts, tightening them to the specified torque before removing the seal protector.

It is important for ensuring the proper installation depth of the new seal.

Start installing the new seal by pressing it into the oil pump cover. Once it is started, use a seal driver or a suitable socket of the correct size to carefully drive the seal squarely into place, ensuring it is flush with the engine cover and remains square when installed.

Install a new center bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. Ensure you use a new pulley bolt. The remainder of the installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Finally, reconnect the battery.

Install the special alignment tool (EN 47839) on the rear of the crankshaft, attaching it with the two supplied screws. Then, install the new oil seal housing over the alignment tool and studs onto the rear of the engine block, removing the guide studs but leaving the alignment tool in place.

The first step is to remove the trans axle and the drive plate.

The manufacturer recommends using special studs EN 46109, seat alignment tool EN 47839, and handle J 42183.

Lubricate the pulley hub with clean engine oil.

Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.

Remove the cranks aft pulley and note how the seal is installed; the new one must be installed to the same depth and facing the same way.

Use a vibration damper installation tool to press the crankshaft pulley onto the crankshaft.

The lip of the new seal and the outer diameter of the crankshaft should be lubricated with engine oil.

Use a seal puller to remove the crankshaft front oil seal.

Complete the installation by reversing the removal steps and reconnecting the battery.

Drive it into the bore with a seal driver or a slightly smaller socket, ensuring the open side of the seal faces into the engine.

Finally, reinstall the flywheel/driveplate and then the transaxle.

Remove the timing belt, the crankshaft position sensor, and the crankshaft sprocket.
